 Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, discreet, and proactive Administrative Assistant to support senior clergy and play a key role in the smooth daily operations of a large and growing synagogue. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator with strong judgment, the ability to manage complex calendars, and a talent for coordinating information and interactions across a busy community setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level administrative support to senior clergy and leadership, including calendar management, meeting preparation, and handling sensitive communications.
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings, committees, special events, and clergy lifecycle engagements.
  • Serve as a liaison between clergy, staff, board members, and congregants to ensure efficient and timely communication.
  • Draft, edit, and proofread correspondence and documents, often on behalf of clergy or senior staff.
  • Track project deadlines and support cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Maintain confidential records and files with accuracy and professionalism.
  • Assist with event planning and lifecycle coordination as needed (e.g., Bar Mitzvah, weddings, funerals).
  • Anticipate the needs of clergy and take initiative to support organizational priorities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-level administrative, executive assistant, or operations support role.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a warm and professional style.
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Zoom, and database/CRM systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Experience in a nonprofit, synagogue, or faith-based environment strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Jewish customs, holidays, or lifecycle events is a plus (not required).
