The course is described as the following: MAC-1006 Computational Thinking (3 Credits): Introduces students to the principles of computation using real-world, data-centric applications. Students will learn the fundamental techniques of computational solutions, including decomposition, abstraction, pattern recognition, and algorithm design. Students will gain proficiency in the rudiments of the Python programming language.Supervisory Responsibilities:None.Duties/Responsibilities:Teach the course MAC1006, which includes 2 lectures per week (1 hour and 20 minutes/ lecture session) Days and times of lecture are TBD by professor and chairUse Brightspace as a digital learning platform for course materials and gradingHold 3 office hours per weekRequired Skills/Abilities:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent interpersonal skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong leadership skills.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Qualifications:Education: M.S., Ph.D., post-docs, or experienced academicians with a strong background in a related discipline (e.g.- computer science)Experience: Experience with teaching a similar course is preferredPhysical Requirements:Prolonged periods of standing and walking around a classroom.Must be able to lift up to 5 pounds at times.Salary:The annual salary for this position is dependent upon the adjunct union contractHours Expectation:2 lectures per week (1 hour and 20 minutes/ lecture session) as well as 3 office hours per week.Days and Times: TBDHousing:Housing is not provided.Benefits:Manhattanville University also offers a highly competitive and comprehensive benefits package, including tuition remission.
