Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist – Biotech
(Temp-to-Perm | Fully Remote)
About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a high-growth biotech organization seeking an experienced Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist to support a fast-paced, decentralized operating environment. This is a hands-on, AP-heavy role ideal for someone who thrives in complex workflows, enjoys building structure, and can balance attention to detail with strong stakeholder communication.
This position is fully remote and offers a temp-to-perm pathway for the right individual.
Key Responsibilities
Own end-to-end Accounts Payable processing, with heavy emphasis on PO-based invoicing
Manage PO module workflows and ensure invoices are matched accurately
Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities
Prepare and manage accruals
Review and process expense reports
Partner with internal departments to resolve PO gaps, discrepancies, and timing issues
Proactively follow up with teams when vendors are engaged without approved POs
Support new vendor setup, including documentation and approvals
Coordinate vendor communication and provide guidance through onboarding processes
Ensure compliance with SOX controls and internal policies
Required Qualifications
Hands-on Coupa experience (REQUIRED – high priority)
Strong, recent Accounts Payable experience in a PO-driven environment
Experience with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
Solid understanding of accrual accounting
Exposure to SOX-compliant environments
Comfortable reviewing and processing expense reports
Experience working in fast-moving, decentralized organizations
Preferred Qualifications
NetSuite experience (nice to have, not required)
Experience in biotech, life sciences, healthcare, or similarly regulated industries
Prior temp-to-perm or project-based AP experience
Soft Skills & Attributes
Calm, professional, and composed under pressure
Politically savvy communicator who can push for compliance without friction
Highly proactive with strong follow-up skills
Comfortable “chasing” missing information and guiding stakeholders through process gaps
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Additional Details
Employment Type: Temp-to-Perm
Work Location: Fully Remote (U.S.)
Target Start Date: ~30 days (mid-February)
Compensation: Competitive; TBD based on experience
Industry: Biotech / Life Sciences (pharma experience not required)
