The Accounting Technician II is responsible for processing payments to vendors, suppliers, and other creditors. The position ensures the accurate and timely processing of invoices, expense reports, and payment transactions while maintaining strong relationships with vendors and internal teams.
Starting Hourly Range: $24.84 - $25.67/hour DOE
This is an in-person position located in Fairbanks, Alaska.
What you will do
- Receive, review, and process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper approvals, and compliance with company policies and internal controls.
- Accurately prepare and execute payments via check, Automated Clearing House (ACH) and wire transfer in a timely manner.
- Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and internal controls.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing, including accurals and reporting.
- Maintain accurate and organized Accounts Payable (AP) records.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment issues and collaborate with other departments to streamline AP processes.
- Work closely with Purchasing and other accounting staff and departments to ensure smooth accounts payable operations.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing support, preparing schedules, and answering questions.
- Assist other accounting staff as needed.
- Compile data and prepare reports.
- Provide back-up and support for other accounting positions during absences.
- Learn, adopt, and apply safety programs
Conditions of Employment
Must pass a pre-employment drug test, random drug test thereafter in accordance with the published policy of Doyon Utilities. Must have a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska. Must be eligible to work on a military installation in Alaska. Eligibility to work on a military installation includes compliance with Department of Defense mandates with respect to employee background and health directives.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent Required
- 2 years of job-related experience. Required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) with experience in ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics Nav, preferred), and the ability to quickly develop a working knowledge of financial systems. (required proficiency)
- Knowledge of and ability to apply basic accounting principles, including accounts payable processes. (required proficiency)
- Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team. (required proficiency)
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. (required proficiency)
