Pro Electric, a Waldinger company, is hiring for an Accounting Manager to join our team in Kansas City!
Job Summary:
Lead a dynamic team overseeing billing, payroll, and office operations while ensuring projects are set up for success from day one. Drive accuracy and compliance across key administrative and financial processes, including client invoicing, weekly payroll, and accounts payable. Play a vital role in monthly financial reporting and annual budgeting, partnering closely with project managers, clients, and branch leadership to solve challenges and support the branch’s growth and success.
Specific Responsibilities
1. Construction Accounting - Oversee and support all financial aspects of construction projects, including job setup, job cost management, payroll, billing, collections, and job closeout. Perform month-end closing activities across applicable systems in accordance with established deadlines.
2. Office Administration - Manage local branch administrative personnel and oversee administrative functions such as fleet management, credit card administration, bank reconciliations, building maintenance, and shop inventory.
3. Purchasing - Oversee and facilitate purchasing activities, including purchase orders, formal purchase orders, and subcontract agreements.
4. Contract Documentation - Work closely with project management to review, organize, and maintain contract documentation and change orders.
5. Accounts Receivable - Monitor weekly collection activity for past-due receivables. Lead weekly AR review meetings with construction billing specialists and provide timely reporting on overdue accounts and other AR-related issues.
6. Craft Payroll - Supervise and assist payroll processors to ensure timely and accurate payroll entry. Manage compliance with federal and state Prevailing Wage Laws.
7. Process Improvement - Support system enhancement and process standardization initiatives
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within construction or project-based industries
  • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
  • Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes
  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems (construction-specific systems preferred)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
