Job Details
Accounting Manager
The Accounting Manager supports the Controller and CFO in overseeing core accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance for a multi-entity transportation business. This role ensures accurate, timely financial reporting, maintains strong internal controls, and drives process improvements in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP financial statements
- Produce weekly profit reporting and management reports
- Perform variance analysis and provide actionable insights to leadership
- Support ad hoc financial analysis
Tax & Compliance
- Coordinate with third-party tax preparers for corporate tax filings
- Prepare and file sales/use, IFTA, and related tax returns
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Accounting Operations
- Support month-end close and general ledger reconciliations
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Assist with internal and external audit coordination
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes
- Partner with leadership to align financial plans with business goals
AR / AP Oversight
- Monitor AR metrics (DSO, aging, cash forecasting)
- Monitor AP metrics (DPO, aging, discount utilization, cash flow)
Process Improvement
- Streamline accounting workflows and enhance reporting accuracy
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4+ years of accounting experience
- Strong GAAP and tax compliance knowledge
- Experience in multi-entity or multi-location environments preferred
- Proficient in ERP systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA preferred
- 3+ years Big 4 Public Accounting experience
