Accounting Manager
About the Role:
The Accounting Manager oversees core accounting operations for the health system, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence. This role leads the general ledger function, manages month‑end close, drives financial reporting, and supports budgeting and audit activities. The Accounting Manager will guide a team of accountants and partner with clinical and administrative leaders to deliver reliable financial insights that support strategic decision‑making.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in alignment with GAAP.
- Ensure adherence to healthcare regulatory requirements and internal control standards.
- Support external audits and regulatory reporting activities.
General Ledger & Close Operations
- Oversee general ledger integrity, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes to ensure timely, accurate financial results.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Contribute to annual budget development and periodic forecasting cycles.
- Deliver variance analyses and financial insights to operational and executive leaders.
Team Leadership
- Manage, coach, and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Assign priorities, review deliverables, and provide ongoing performance feedback.
Process & Systems Improvement
- Identify opportunities to optimize accounting workflows and strengthen internal controls.
- Support system enhancements, automation initiatives, and ERP improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA certification is required.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Experience in healthcare or health system environments is strongly preferred
- Deep understanding of GAAP and healthcare financial regulations.
- Proficiency with ERP platforms (e.g., Lawson, Oracle, SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
