Accounting Manager |Financial Services

A growing financial services organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to support its origination business and work closely with senior finance leadership. This role is ideal for a strong, hands‑on accounting professional who understands cash movement, funding mechanics, and day‑to‑day financial operations within a high‑volume lending environment.

This is not a strategic role—it is a critical execution role focused on blocking and tackling, accuracy, and operational finance.

Role Overview

The Accounting Manager will own the accounting and core finance activities for the origination line of business. You will partner closely with executive finance leadership while managing daily accounting, cash activity, forecasting support, and audit readiness. This role sits below senior finance leadership and is designed for someone who thrives in execution rather than high‑level strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Own day‑to‑day accounting and finance activities for the origination business
• Manage cash activity, cash flow tracking, and cash movement, including warehouse line funding
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly close
• Support revenue and expense tracking, SG&A, and operational reporting
• Assist with forecasting and trend analysis related to origination volumes (not strategic ownership)
• Ensure proper documentation, controls, and audit support
• Support due diligence requests as needed
• Partner with senior finance leadership to ensure accurate, timely financial information

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong background in mortgage lending, loan origination, or financial services (highly preferred)
• Solid understanding of warehouse lines, loan funding, and cash mechanics
• Comfortable owning accounting and operational finance holistically for a business line
• Hands‑on, detail‑oriented, execution‑focused
• Not a junior accountant; must be capable of independent ownership
• Experience supporting audits and financial reviews

This role is well‑suited for someone at the Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, or AVP‑level, depending on experience and scope.

Compensation & Location

• Salary: $120,000–$130,000 + bonus potential
• Location: Chicagoland area
