Job Title: Accounting Clerk (Federal Financial Reporting Support)

Position Overview: Cameo Consulting Group, LLC. is seeking multiple experienced Accounting Clerks to join our team supporting the Department of the Interior (DOI), Interior Business Center (IBC) in Denver, CO. In this role, you will work alongside federal employees to provide mission-critical financial operations support. Your primary focus will be on Financial Reporting and General Accounting, ensuring all reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant with U.S. Treasury and OMB standards.
 
Primary Responsibilities: 
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and footnotes.
  • Prepare and submit critical federal reports, including SF-224 (Treasury reports), GTAS reports, and the Quarterly Treasury Report on Receivables.
  • Perform detailed reconciliations, including Fund Balance with Treasury, payroll, fixed assets, and general ledger account relationships.
  • Analyze and explain general ledger variances and resolve Statement of Differences for disbursements and collections.
  • Assist auditors by obtaining and preparing documents and records selected for examination.
  • Track corrective actions and help ensure compliance with audit findings.
  • Perform A-123 test scenarios and reconcile eliminations between DOI and other government agencies.
  • Record investment transactions and maintain proper supporting documentation for all adjustments.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Federal Accounting Knowledge: Experience applying fund accounting principles within a federal government environment. Knowledge of appropriations law and governmental policies is highly preferred.
  • Financial Analysis & Reconciliation: Experience analyzing and interpreting financial data, preparing reconciliations, and handling tasks related to deposit funds, vendor payments, cash collections, and unliquidated obligations.
  • Technical Systems: Proficiency with at least one major computerized accounting system (e.g., SAP/FBMS, Oracle Federal Financials). Experience entering and researching accounting transactions is required.
  • Software Proficiency: Strong skills in MS-Word and MS-Excel (spreadsheets, variance analysis).
  • Communication & Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, interacting professionally with government employees, team members, and customers. Must be able to communicate financial matters clearly both orally and in writing.
