Accounting Clerk
Location: Buffalo Grove, IL (On-site)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Duration: Short-term, 2–4 weeks
Are you detail-oriented, organized, and experienced with sales tax documentation? We’re seeking a hands-on Accounting Clerk for a short-term project focused on reviewing, collecting, and validating sales tax forms and communicating with customers to obtain required documentation. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys investigative, detail-heavy work and thrives in a small, collaborative accounting environment.
What You’ll Do
Sales Tax Document Review (Primary)
- The Accounting Clerk will Evaluate sales tax exemption certificates and related forms for accuracy and completeness
- Identify missing information and discrepancies
- Track document status and maintain organized records
Customer Communication
- The Accounting Clerk will Call customers to request missing or updated sales tax forms
- Follow up by email to collect required documentation
- Provide clear, professional communication throughout the process
Project Support
- The Accounting Clerk will maintain logs, files, and document tracking systems
- Assist with administrative tasks related to the sales tax cleanup project
- Provide timely updates on progress and outstanding items
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- 1–2 years of accounting, administrative, or documentation experience
- Strong experience working with sales tax documentation (or ability to learn quickly)
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills—comfortable calling customers
Nice to Have:
- Prior sales tax, accounting, or compliance-related experience
- Experience reviewing exemption certificates or tax-related paperwork
Work Environment
- On-site role within a small accounting team
