Senior Nonprofit Tax Accountant / Manager (Hybrid)

Overview
A well-established public accounting firm is seeking an experienced nonprofit tax professional to join its tax team. This is the only position currently open due to upcoming retirements and represents a long-term growth opportunity for someone looking to specialize and eventually lead a nonprofit tax practice.
The firm works exclusively with nonprofit organizations and does not provide individual or corporate tax services.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and review Form 990 series returns for nonprofit clients
Serve as a trusted advisor to nonprofit organizations on tax compliance and reporting
Collaborate with internal tax team members on reviews, deadlines, and best practices
Manage multiple nonprofit engagements with a high degree of accuracy and autonomy
Contribute to the long-term growth of the nonprofit tax practice, with the opportunity to step into a leadership role within a few years

Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of nonprofit tax experience, specifically Form 990 preparation and review
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
CPA not required (CPA-eligible candidates welcome)
Background in public accounting preferred
Experience working exclusively or primarily with nonprofit clients

Nice to Have

Experience at a firm with a strong nonprofit client base
Interest in long-term practice leadership and mentorship
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
