This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys a hands-on environment where responsibilities span the full accounting cycle—from daily payables and receivables to monthly financial reporting. The successful candidate will support management with accurate and timely financial data while maintaining a strong focus on operational efficiency and cost control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries and adjustments for accruals, revenue, and expense activity.
  • Process joint interest billing (JIB) each month, ensuring accuracy of allocations and coding; review partner billings for reasonableness and compliance with COPAS guidelines.
  • Manage JIB receivables, monitor outstanding balances, and follow up with partners to resolve discrepancies or payment issues.
  • Handle accounts payable processing, including invoice entry, coding, approval routing, and timely payments to vendors and service providers.
  • Reconcile key balance sheet accounts (cash, payables, receivables, accruals, revenue, suspense, etc.) and research variances as needed.
  • Assist in AFE tracking, LOE analysis, and production cost reviews to support management decisions.
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for monthly/quarterly close, external accountants, and auditors.
  • Work collaboratively with land, engineering, and operations to ensure accurate reporting and allocations.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve system efficiency.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of upstream oil and gas accounting experience, including hands-on work with account reconciliation, JIB, and accounts payable.
  • Strong understanding of COPAS and oil and gas accounting principles.
  • Experience managing JIB receivables and vendor payments in an E&P environment.
  • Proficiency with oil and gas accounting software (e.g., SSI,Wolfepak, OGsys, Quorum, or similar).
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations, and data analysis).
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience managing Revenue Processing and Distribution in an E&P environment.
  • Experience in a small private E&P company or family office setting.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and 401(k).
  • Paid time off and flexible work schedule.
  • Opportunity for professional growth and direct involvement with senior management and company owners. Top of Form
