About the Opportunity:
Our client in the Niles, Michigan area is looking for a seasoned accounting professional to provide hands-on support during a period of financial clean-up and process improvement. This consultant will play a key role in bringing accuracy, structure, and stability to core accounting operations.
Responsibilities:
• Lead a thorough clean-up of the general ledger, with emphasis on correcting AP and AR discrepancies, aged items, and misposted transactions.
• Manage day-to-day AP and AR functions to ensure accurate processing, consistent workflow, and timely financial activity.
• Reconcile vendor and customer accounts, identify variances, and resolve outstanding balances, unapplied payments, and invoice issues.
• Oversee invoice entry, payment processing, cash application, and deposits while tightening internal controls and documentation.
• Review and correct transactional data in Sage 100 to strengthen reporting reliability.
• Recommend and implement operational improvements to streamline work, reduce errors, and support month-end close.
Qualifications:
• Solid background in full-cycle accounting and general ledger management.
• Experience managing accounting clean-up, corrections, or remediation projects.
• Self-directed, confident decision-maker who thrives in a hands-on environment.
• Sage 100 experience preferred; familiarity with multiple ERP systems is advantageous.
Salary:$70,000-$80,000
