Nucor Skyline Steel LLC is hiring an Accountant in Newton, IL, responsible for supporting financial reporting, analysis, and internal controls in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, 2+ years of experience, and strong data analysis and Excel skills.

 

We offer:

• Base salary starting at $63,000 plus performance bonus (~$6,300) and profit sharing (~$6,900) for total starting compensation around $76,535

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related financial field with 2+ years of relevant experience
• Strong data analysis capabilities with advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls; ability to support audits and compliance processes
• Experience in manufacturing environments and ERP systems preferred; CPA, CMA, or Master’s degree a plus
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with ability to collaborate across teams
• Willingness to travel occasionally and commitment to maintaining safety standards in all activities

 

Job Duties:

• Assist with month-end close processes including journal entries and financial statement preparation
• Ensure financial reporting accuracy and compliance with company policies and GAAP standards
• Maintain and improve internal control structures and support audit readiness
• Perform inventory reserve analysis, cost analysis, and variance reporting to support business decisions
• Analyze raw material costs, sales, and expenditures while contributing to forecasting and budgeting activities
• Support annual physical inventory, capital expenditure tracking, and financial reporting initiatives
• Communicate financial insights and reports to business partners and leadership across the organization
