Provides full account management support for business, commercial, industrial, national, and government customers.
Handles customer requests, complaints, and claims while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Collaborates with internal teams and vendor partners to resolve issues, process billing, manage accounts, and support financial and operational functions.
Minimum 2+ years experience in customer service, sales, claims, customer accounting, or revenue recovery. Shifts may include evenings and weekends.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associatea s or Bachelor's degree preferred.
Other: Proficiency in CRM software and basic computer skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist customers with account inquiries, billing, and enrollment.
- Process claims, contractor invoices, and fulfillment requests.
- Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams.
- Maintain accurate account records and follow established policies.
- Participate in training and development programs for customer service.

Job Description: Billing & Operations Contractor
Location: Houston, TX
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced billing operations contractor to provide critical support during our billing system migration and post-implementation period. This role will focus on ensuring smooth migration execution, supporting go-live activities, and managing manual operational tasks while automation solutions are being developed.
Primary Responsibilities
Migration Support
- Assist with data validation and reconciliation during billing system migration
- Support testing activities including parallel billing runs and validation checks
- Help document migration issues, track resolutions, and maintain audit trails
- Coordinate with technical teams to ensure accurate data transfer and system setup
- Provide hands-on support during hypercare period following system go-live
- Monitor billing runs and identify exceptions or anomalies requiring investigation
- Assist with troubleshooting billing discrepancies and customer inquiries
- Help validate that bills are generating correctly with accurate charges and rate components
- Handle manual billing tasks and workarounds until automation is implemented
- Support enrollment processing and customer setup activities
- Assist with billing audits, charge validations, and contract verification
- Maintain documentation of manual processes and issue resolutions
- Support the team with general operational busy work during high-volume periods
- 3+ years of experience in billing operations, preferably in energy or utilities
- Strong understanding of billing systems, rate structures, and charge calculations
- Experience with system migrations or implementations
- Proficiency in Excel including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
- Detail-oriented with strong reconciliation and validation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Experience with energy retail billing systems (VertexOne, CES, ESG, or similar platforms)
- Knowledge of commercial and industrial billing processes
- Familiarity with data migration validation and testing methodologies
- Experience supporting post-implementation hypercare activities
- Understanding of contract management and rate setup
- Contract duration: Month to Month
- Full-time availability during migration and go-live periods
- Flexibility to support extended hours during critical cutover activities
