The Opportunity
The Accountant & Small Business Payroll Partner is a critical, revenue-driving role responsible for owning and growing accountant and referral partner channel. This role sits at the intersection of accounting credibility, relationship management, and consultative sales.
You will serve as the primary point of contact for CPAs, accountants, bookkeepers, and trusted advisors—building long-term partnerships that consistently generate high-quality payroll referrals. You will also handle all inbound referral and sales conversations, guiding small business prospects through a smooth, confident decision-making process.
This is not a transactional or high-pressure sales role. Success is driven by trust, follow-through, process discipline, and delivering an exceptional partner experience that reflects brand promise.
Responsibilities
Partner Development & Relationship Management
• Build, nurture, and expand long-term referral relationships with CPAs, accountants, bookkeepers, and financial advisors
• Serve as a trusted payroll resource to partners, helping them better serve their small business clients
• Design and execute a predictable partner engagement cadence, including personalized outreach, gifting, education, and quarterly touchpoints
• Identify, research, and develop targeted lists of high-fit accounting firms for light outbound outreach
Sales & Referral Lifecycle Ownership
• Manage the full referral lifecycle from initial introduction through closed client handoff
• Conduct all inbound referral and sales calls with small business prospects
• Qualify prospects effectively and guide them through Cirrus’ consultative sales process
• Collaborate closely with implementation and payroll teams to ensure seamless client onboarding
Process, Systems & Collaboration
• Maintain accurate, timely CRM records for partners, referrals, and sales activity
• Record calls and document notes to support transparency and continuous improvement
• Provide feedback to leadership on partner insights, messaging gaps, and referral barriers
• Support partner-focused content efforts, including educational resources and nurture communications
• Represent at select industry events, webinars, and networking opportunities
Base salary range between $85,000-$100,000
