5-6 Math Teacher

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated 5-6 Math Teacher to join our team in Indianapolis, IN. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics education and a commitment to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment for students in grades 5 and 6.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that meet curriculum standards and address the diverse needs of students.
• Teach mathematical concepts including arithmetic, fractions, decimals, basic geometry, and introductory algebra to 5th and 6th grade students.
• Assess student progress regularly through quizzes, tests, and assignments, providing constructive feedback.
• Create a classroom environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student learning and school initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and behavior.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification/license for the state of Indiana.
• Experience teaching math to upper elementary or middle school students preferred.
• Strong knowledge of math curriculum and instructional strategies for grades 5-6.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
• Passion for teaching and motivating young learners.
