Job Description


DVU is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our team in the Southern New Jersey area. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient-centered care by embracing our core values of people, service, quality, integrity, and community.


This position will see patients in an outpatient office setting and also in a hospital setting. 

Core duties and responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned as it pertains to the role.

  • Provides patient care, including patient assessment, review of symptoms, history and physical, evaluation and ordering diagnostic testing, prescribing appropriate medication, and recommending follow up care and subsequent visits.
  • Solicits opinions and obtains counsel from DVU physicians for the care of patents, to schedule surgical procedures, for questions regarding alternate courses of treatment.
  • Counsels patients regarding preventative care, therapeutic options, the risks and benefits of recommended testing and medications.
  • Documents all findings, orders, medications prescribed, procedure results, and plan for follow in patient’s EMR.
  • Review patient test results and respond appropriately.
  • Handle telephone calls from patients, family members, referring physicians, and hospitals.
  • Generates letters to referring physicians and other practitioners, including the results of patient evaluations, recommended course of treatment, and follow up care.
  • Assist physician in the hospital when scheduled.
  • Rounding in hospital.
  • Provide follow up patient visits.
  • Organizes, promotes, and offers services for the DVU Continence Improvement Program.
  • Perform patient procedures:
  • Bladder scans
  • Administering medications, including bladder treatments
  • Suture/surgical tape removal
  • Wound care, including dressing changes
  • Urinary catheter insertion and removal
  • Assisting with office procedures
  • Attend monthly physician meeting.

Job Requirements


Job Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant program
  • Licensure in the state of New Jersey
  • Board Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner or;
  • Certified as National Commissioned Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • DEA
  • CDS

Previous urology experience preferred
