Regulatory Compliance Engineer
The Regulatory Compliance Engineer is the manufacturing contact for international product regulatory compliance.  The role is primarily responsible for understanding the certification and compliance landscape for the company’s products in the global marketplace and maintaining the necessary documentation for their export.   It is vital that the Regulatory Compliance Engineer understands global regulatory requirements concerning audio visual and information technology products, and proactively addresses any forthcoming compliance challenges that are relevant to these categories. 

Responsibilities of the Regulatory Compliance Engineer
Research, analyze and apply compliance concepts, approaches, and international regulatory requirements that apply to the company’s products, through industry associations and standards.
Develop cost-effective methodologies and plans to maintain and continually improve a robust compliance management system.
Collaborate closely with Development Engineering, reviewing design data, identifying and resolving short and long-range issues to establish robust methods for compliance certifications maintenance.
Approve product compliance development activities in phase gate reviews for product releases.
Communicate progress and results to management.
Clearly disseminate changing requirements that might affect ongoing and new business.
Communicate with external certification bodies and testing laboratories
Prevent compliance delays by preparing timetables, cost estimates and resource requirements, including test laboratories and equipment.
Support export compliance needs by responding to documentation requests, such as declarations, from Sales and Customer Service.
Understand and assist Product Management, Legal, and Customer Service & Shipping with ECCN classification, analysis of any export licensing or reporting requirements, and Schedule B and HS Code classifications for company products.
Schedule, plan and coordinate external compliance audits, such as CQC and UL, and respond to corresponding findings in a timely manner.
Conduct audits, internally and externally, to ensure ongoing compliance to regulations.
Maintain product certifications through renewals and retesting as applicable.
Ensure manufacturing support and guidance, including training on Compliance awareness.
Report on system and product performance, including data analysis.
Support qualification of suppliers and components as it relates to product regulatory compliance.
Develop and maintain job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging compliance practices and standards.
Participate in educational opportunities and professional organizations and read professional publications.
Other duties as assigned by Manager.

Job Requirements

Regulatory Compliance Engineer Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
3+ years of technical experience with regulatory product compliance in a manufacturing environment.
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with proven ability to apply tools such as data analysis, risk management and various quality system methodologies, such as root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write technical reports and create presentations and executive summaries.
Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment while working on multiple projects with constantly changing priorities and deadlines.
Organized and analytical thinker with strong project management and leadership skills; effective working in cross-functional team setting.
Ability to translate highly technical information for understanding by all audiences, evaluating compliance requirements and recommending plans of action.
Must be able to read, write and comprehend in English. Ability to read and comprehend Chinese a plus.
Experience with UL/IEC 60065, 60950 and 62368, various CE directives, such as EMC, LVD and RED, Schedule B and HS code classification, ECCN classification, and RoHS, REACH and WEEE regulations, preferred.
