Job Description

The General Manager is responsible for the complete performance of the Letica Freightline Division including timely delivery of company produced products to customer’s distribution centers in order to provide excellent customer service while reducing freight costs.  This position will need to identify and recommend training programs from department personnel gather information regarding operational issues and negotiate contracts with outside carriers and vendors.  Additionally, the General Manager will attend safety meetings, review and develop programs and action plans to reduce accident rates to insure lower premium costs.




1.     Manage/Mentor operations department.


2.     Attends safety meetings, reviews and develops programs and action plans to reduce vehicular/personal accident rates to insure lower premium costs.


3.     Develops innovative ways to provide the operating personnel with the most effective way to manage operations.


4.     Provides subordinates with proper training and development to insure growth / development.


5.     Identify and recommend training and programs for subordinates as needed.


6.     Reviews and evaluates Operations manager, Safety Manager, HR/Office manager and Recruiter.


7.     Insures that operational commitments can be met prior to rate being submitted to customer.


8.     Gathers information regarding operational issues to insure proper start-up programs are in place.


9.     Identifies competitors, analyzing their strengths and weaknesses, and provides recommendations insuring our continuance of business.


10.  Develops all operating plans for their area of responsibility.


11.  Negotiate rates with outside carriers.


12.  Negotiate contracts with vendors (I.e. Penske for power units, etc.).

13.  Manage company associates lease car program.


14.  Monitor driver payroll


15.  Monitor Internal and External billing.


16.  Ensure all reports and information required by leadership are updated and communicated.


17.  Continuous monitoring and training on DOT/CSA laws and mandates and track timelines to any changes and ensure proper execution of such.

Job Requirements

1.     Minimum of three (3) years experience as Transportation Manager or Director.


2.     Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.


3.     Minimum of seven (7) years progressive management experience in logistics field.


4.     Proven ability to plan at both strategic and operational levels.


5.     Advanced analytical and project management skills.


6.     Strong communication (written and verbal) skills.


7.     Proven ability to negotiate contracts.
