Job Description

Morson International is currently seeking an Aerospace Inspection Planner to join our client, a manufacturing and engineering company within the Aerospace/Aviation industries. The ideal candidate would have at least 5 years of experience within an aerospace warehouse and manufacturing environment.

The Inspection Planner is responsible for generating “First Article Inspection” plans in CAM’s/Visiprise, and other media as required and ensures alignment with applicable engineering design requirements and production planning, per aviation standards FAI AS9102

·   Due to the nature of work involved, US Citizenship status is required

Job Requirements

  • Responsibilities:

    ·       The Inspection Planner is responsible for generating “First Article Inspection” plans in CAM’s/Visiprise, and other media as required and ensures alignment with applicable engineering design requirements and production planning.

    ·       Perform Conformity Inspection/ FAI AS9102. 

    ·       Reviews Engineering requirements and production planning to determine appropriate level of inspection and inspection points.

    ·       Works effectively with engineers, supervisors, managers and production personnel to resolve inspection-planning issues, achieve team objectives and promote quality principles.

    ·       Writes and maintains first article inspection plans and inspection planning imbedded within production planning.

    ·       Troubleshoots and corrects inspection-planning issues within the existing systems.

    ·       Prepares detail inspection documentation such as written descriptions of inspection, results including deviations from engineering specifications.

    ·       Writes updates and improves quality procedures as required.

    ·       The resource requirement is for working on metallic and composites separately.

    ·       Inspection of complex machined and forged tools, fixtures and parts using advanced measuring and layout instruments and equipment, visual and mechanical inspection methods.

    Skills required: 

    ·       CATIA V4, V5. V6 experience is an added advantage.

    ·       Extensive experience with AS9100 requirements, inspection planning and techniques.

    ·       Must be able to read and interpret engineering design requirements and create inspection plans.

    ·       Thorough knowledge of Geometric Dimension & Tolerance (GD&T) and the application of AMSE Y14.5M.

    o    Applicable to Metallic.

    o    Applicable to general practices in advanced composites.

    ·       For composites, the person should be familiar with composites manufacturing process starting from ply nesting, ply cutting, layup, bagging, curing, post cure operations, bonding and NDI. It would be preferable to have experience in aerospace composites facility.

    ·       Aerospace component experience in Aluminum, Steel, forged, castings and Composites.

    ·       Use of Inspection Equipment such as micrometer, caliper, height gage, V blocks, plug gages, vision system / Comparator.

    ·       Ability to read blueprints/mechanical drawings.

    ·       BS or AS Degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering or related field. 

    ·       Solid experience with Methods engineering, First Article Inspection, and reporting in the aircraft / helicopter industry.

    ·       Candidate should be able to work independently with little or no supervision.
