This role partners with Senior Creative Manager on all aspects of store décor and planogram signage requests including any unique strategic pilot programs and field or internal partner requests. This position partners with Visual Merchandising to support Merchandising planogram resets for product category awareness and up-sell and sales growth by implementing signage and visual support to communicate use, product availability, and value. This Team Member must be well-versed in advanced techniques and technology with regard to design software, substrates, fixtures, and signage innovation/ideas. Measure of success of planogram signage in relations to sales lift/growth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work with all strategic partners to understand and activate signage strategy and successful socialization of plan to all teams as scheduled.
  • Identify, research, and articulate risks and solutions when working through issues.
  • Ensure there is alignment within Visual Merchandising and/or cross-functional groups prior to cascading to a larger audience.
  • Research competitor and other retail stores for décor/planogram approach and solutions, especially those with a similar box size. 
  • Review and approve store décor installations on a consistent basis. Send report to install teams as to which stores still have revisits or issues and request an update on the status of all stores.
  • Maintain graphic and brand standards for retail store décor and planograms to further establish brand consistency and identify emerging retail, in-store branding opportunities that Advance should consider studying.
  • Develop concepts and final layout, suggest improvements as needed and present final layout to Senior Creative Manager and/or requestor for approval.
  • Create finished artwork or electronic files for final output. Review proof and approve proofs.
  • Ideate on NSO and newly acquired stores for consistent footprint design and implementation to maximize visual branding, practicality and aesthetics. Evaluate NSO sales against sales targets
  • Research substrates, fixtures and techniques available to streamline installation process and implementation
  • Conduct vendor cost reduction research and look to streamline print and pre-press processes. Measure amount of savings % against present costs. Work with vendor partners to determine and templatize quotes and bids for substrates, inks, processes, secondary vendor incumbency manifestations etc. based on economies of consistent print bids and print purchasing.
  • Work with Visual Merchandising and Marketing Operations to track signage projects to include all delivery dates and communication plans with follow-up results. Reports to include sales lift to date numbers for each category.
  • Creative Review Audits conducted every other month with Innerworkings, and scorecards completed on all print jobs within one week of receiving samples.
  • Creation of installation guidelines for all POG/décor projects.
  • Review all signage types within the in-store experience and work with Senior Creative Manager to build objectives/ guidelines/direction strategies for each of the different types and sub categories within each type (Permanent, Semi-permanent, Promo signage, etc.)
  • Update/maintain In-store Signage Process Plan and work with strategic partners (Visual Merchandising, Marketing Operations and Innerworkings) to gain alignment on strategy, timing and process stages to collectively socialize to cross-function teams (Merchandising and Marketing partners).
  • Digital content creation for social, web, display and SOF pilot support.
  • Print/digital support for other DIY promo and non-promo initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Signage or Environmental design experience required. Retail design experience preferred.
  • Proficiency on Macintosh computers and digital design-related programs and content management systems including:
  • Superior visual conceptual skills, knowledge of media requirements/terminology and vendor requirement capabilities.
  • Strong leadership skills to work closely with all internal departments and vendors to concept and create individual project/program needs Industry experience with advertising agencies, design groups, in-house design groups (retail and corporate).
  • Experience in overseeing branding efforts with large companies.
  • Experience in dealing with and overseeing outside vendors.
  • Ability to organize and maintain multiple jobs simultaneously in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment is required.
  • Demonstrated portfolio experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to create materials that drive customer experience and sales results
  • Digital design experience a plus.
  • Membership in National Advertising or Design organizations preferred.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university or reputable design school; and 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or Equivalent combination of education and experience
