A client of ours in Austin, TX has an immediate need for a Scrum Master to join their team as a fully benefited employee. This is a direct hire role contributing to the Veteran's Affairs, Financial Service Center.

Client and Project Description:

The mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Financial Services Center (FSC) is We provide high-quality financial services, exceeding the expectations of our Federal customers, inspiring their trust and empowering them to focus on their core missions. The VA FSC Financial Technology Service (FTS) mission is to provide high-quality Information Technology (IT) infrastructure, software engineering, Electronic Commerce, and system support services to the FSC in accordance with the FSC's overall mission. In meeting these goals, VA FSC strives to provide high-quality financial services, exceeding the expectations of our Federal customers, inspiring trust and empowering them to focus on their core missions.




The overall goals of this project is to provide project management, research and assessment, development guidelines, technical services, software development and deployment support to the FSC including software engineering, software development, and system solution architect expertise to perform system development life cycle (SDLC) tasks in the development of applications and systems. The customer is additionally looking for Center of Excellence support as well as optional mentoring and training. Knowledge of scaled Agile Methodology such as SAFe and the VIP software development lifecycle established by VA's Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) is also strongly preferred. The project will have multiple teams providing system and application sustainment support for the FSC's portfolio and features.




Responsibilities:

A Scrum Master must have experience managing Agile/Information Technology related projects and must be well versed in software development life cycle and project management methodologies. Scrum Master will oversee scrum team for key high-priority project for the Veterans Affairs Financial Services Center. Additional areas of responsibility include but not limited to:

  • Tracking costs, schedule and performance progress.
  • Identify and mitigate risks.
  • Excellent communication skills who can work with key stakeholders/customers to support planning and delivery of technical IT development Agile projects.
  • Define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans; and perform delivery planning for assigned projects.
  • Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work; and mentoring and developing team members.
  • Scrum Master will support managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and help to implement an effective system of project governance.
  • Experience and knowledge of Healthcare, the Department of Veterans Affairs and/or the Financial Services Center is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or SAFe certifications are preferred.




Required Skills:

  • Agile & Program Management
  • Project Management Experience, Project / Program Agile Lifecycle Management
  • 5 years and BA degree in Degree in engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline is required (in lieu of degree, 8 years of additional relevant experience)
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models and Agile project management principles/practices
  • Successful in leading software/web development projects using Agile methodologies with multi-function teams




Preferred Experience:

  • Healthcare and/or VA experience (Preferred)
  • PMP, CSM, and/or SAFe certification (Preferred)
  • ***MUST HAVE A GREEN CARD/ PERMANENT RESIDENT OR BE A U.S. CITIZEN***
  • We currently do not offer sponsorship for this requisition
  • MUST live in Austin, Texas as no relocation assistance is provided; no remote opportunity- must be on-site everyday
