We are seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer for our Grabill Plant located near Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Electrical Controls Engineer reports directly to the Engineering Supervisor. The Electrical Controls Engineer oversees all day to day production operations in the facility from an engineering perspective. The Electrical Controls Engineer works directly with plant and corporate engineering on plant and equipment improvement projects, new equipment installations, equipment and process upgrades and improvements, research and development of new products and new processes and new product launches. The Electrical Controls Engineer supports the maintenance staff when troubleshooting/breakdown repairs on electronic equipment is needed and coordinates electronic maintenance work with the plant maintenance staff. The Electrical Controls Engineer performs PLC, HMI and PC programming tasks as required for plant operation and creates and maintains electrical equipment and facility drawings. Elementary training of maintenance personnel regarding electronic equipment and processes also fall within the Electrical Controls Engineer's responsibilities. The Electrical Controls Engineer will also specify and order "spare parts" for new and existing electronic equipment in the plant. The Electrical Controls Engineer will also lead all capital projects within the facility.

Job Functions:

  • Install, repair and design development of new electronic equipment to be installed in the plant.

  • Troubleshooting/breakdown repairs on existing equipment in the plant.

  • Project engineering tasks performed at Corporate Manufacturing Engineers request.

  • PLC/HMI/PC programming, maintenance and training.

  • Develop and maintain electrical equipment drawings using AutoCAD

  • Specify and order electronic spare parts for new and existing plant equipment.

  • Direct and work with maintenance staff on electronic repairs and projects.

  • Provide training to maintenance staff regarding electronic test equipment and systems.

  • Serve as backup IT in plant, in the regularly assigned IT tech's absence.


  • Bachelor's degree Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.

  • Five years of experience in engineering in automotive manufacturing is strongly preferred.

  • A high degree of computer literacy with experience using AutoCAD software and various PLC languages.
