The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for working closely with our senior teams to identify, develop, and implement Continuous Improvement (CI) action plans for our global operations.  The Continuous Improvement Engineer will identify, justify, and lead continuous improvement projects using appropriate methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) to deliver rapid and sustainable results.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develops, leads, manages and delivers multiple business wide improvement projects concurrently.
  • Leads and manages cultural change initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
  • Aids with capacity planning, facility layout, process design, cost savings and service improvement projects.
  • Encourages and facilitates best practices, updates work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Collects and maintains times study data and establishes productivity goals and reporting.
  • Leads the delivery of manufacturing operations performance improvement objectives at all locations.
  • Analyzes business performance data to inform project identification, cost and benefits.
  • Produces regular production reports, project updates and spend to budget, benefit s by project.
  • Monitors, coaches, guides and develops staff participating in projects.
  • Establishes a strong and open working relationship with other areas of the business sharing best practices.
  • Manages improvements to the facilities, including interaction with service providers.
  • Participates in safety efforts and liaises with worldwide Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) teams.
  • Participates in monthly EH&S meeting and initiatives.
  • Train operational teams in Continuous Improvement skills, tools and techniques.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook, AWAIR and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree  or equivalent experience in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in a manufacturing or distribution environment leading projects.
  • Certifications with Lean and/or Six Sigma.
  • Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment. Must be able to demonstrate a sound understanding, and practical experience of implementing a range of continuous improvement tools and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, negotiation and problem solving skills.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, engineering drawing software programs and flow-charting software.
  • Must have excellent verbal, written, math, and presentation skills, with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel, nationally and internationally, to visit customers, suppliers, subcontractors, or other company sites as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge and experience using SAP or a similar ERP system.
  • Work experience in the temperature-controlled packaging industry.
  • Project management experience.
  • Professional certifications such as Black Belt or Certified Practitioner in Inventory Management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly  required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to executive non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
