Job Description

Works in partnership with the Pediatric Medical Director of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on all matters related to the strategic growth, development and clinical performance of partnership’s pediatric service line. Supervises clinic administrators and works with physician leadership and corporate support services to deliver medical services that are operating effectively and meeting the strategic goals and mission of the corporation.

  1. Manages the development and execution of operational plans to deliver high quality, patient-centered care according to AltaMed Enterprise Goals.
  2. Implements and evaluates operational standards for all sites to assure efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods.
  3. Works with Clinic Administrators, Physician Leadership, and Corporate Support Services to drive improvement in Medical Group Star ratings.
  4. Oversees development and implementation of staffing and resource plan for the Medical Group.
  5. Oversees development and implementation of staff training and development to achieve desired goals and meet company standards.
  6. Works with Facilities Planning to manage facility expansions and transitions, assuring that operational requirements are met.
  7. Assigns resources to appropriate Quality Improvement initiatives to achieve company goals.
  8. Oversees the development and management of operational budgets for the medical and dental offices.
  9. Acts as administrative liaison and resource for corporate support service departments to alignment to goals and delivery of high-quality services, e.g. Purchasing, IT, Human Resources, Finance, Development, external regulatory or funding agencies, and other external partners.
  10. Participates on various internal and external committees, representing the corporation and/or the medical and dental operations.
  11. Assures that medical and dental offices comply with all internal policy and external regulatory or funding requirements.
  12. Works proactively with management and physician leadership to identify and respond to shifts in service demand or supply.
  13. Serves as the business champion/project leader for key operational initiatives and projects as assigned, utilizing a cross-functional/programmatic approach.
  14. Report quarterly to Joint Leadership Council (JLC) and respective governing bodies regarding strategy, on establishing goals and standards and performance. Ensure policies of the council are implemented and assessed for impact.
  15. Report quarterly on performance against plan to the physicians who work within the pediatric clinic operations.
  16. Develop Joint Operating and Oversight Committee (JOOC) agenda, lead JOOC meetings, and direct JLC attention to the most critical issues requiring leadership attention.
  17. Ensure effective recruitment of talent to support programmatic development.
  18. Ensure effective collaboration across the CHLA/AltaMed systems to achieve meaningful improvements in clinical quality outcomes and attainment of core measures.
  19. Ensure collaboration between the physician practice, clinics, and hospital to drive improvement in clinical quality outcomes, especially those required under certification, payer contracts, regulatory agencies and patient standards of care.
  20. Work collaboratively with clinic providers, management and support staff to reduce practice variation and improve process and outcome performance in the service line.
  21. Ensure talent management and physician recruitment is aligned with programmatic development.
  22. Identify innovative ways to simplify or improve processes in care at the system level.
  23. Develop and oversees operational and financial dashboards for the pediatric service line. Obtain the necessary information in the effort to improve care, cost effectiveness and grow market share.
  24. Responsible for compliance, regulatory and data security and other areas of risk management in areas of accountability.
  25. Evaluate and develop business development opportunities that lead to market growth.
  26. Accountable for ensuring the performance of the clinical informatics and care management teams are aligned with the strategic direction and meets the needs of the clinical services.
  27. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Nursing, Health Administration or other health related fields required; Master’s Degree in Business, Public Health or Health Administration strongly preferred.
  2. 5 – 8 years’ experience required in ambulatory care management, overseeing multiple office locations.
  3. Experience in financial management, program development, personnel management, project management and quality management strongly preferred.
  4. Demonstrated results in executing complex initiatives and projects.
  5. Experience in Children’s Hospital or Pediatric Medical Group preferred./p>
