Job Description

Job Summary
Develops, plans, and maintains Master Schedule for manufacturing facilities.  Interacts with internal cross-functional teams to reduce costs and optimize customer service.
Essential Job Duties
  • Develops, publishes, and maintains the master production schedule, balancing production capacity and inventory levels.  Collaborates with Production to finalize the weekly plan.
  • Manages item master integrity and warehouse rules to leverage the MRP system
  • Develops and maintains appropriate measures of manufacturing performance versus forecast and plan.  Monitors Batch Order Attainment during capacity constraints.
  • Balances demand with available capacity and material through Capacity Planning.  Analyzes production specifications and capacity data; makes plans and adjustments to plans; prepares communications to operations, logistics, and product supply team.
  • Responds to and communicates changes in supply and/or demand, adjusting production plans as appropriate, including any pre-building plans to maintain Service to Sales (STS) metric while working to minimize finished goods inventory going to Distressed.
  • Maintains Shop Floor Calendar.  Actively participates in preventive maintenance schedules, for coordination with production plans and inventories.
  • Identifies and expedites alternative solutions and recommendations to meet unforeseen conditions such as schedule delays, alternate schedules, changes in manufacturing locations, shipping/distribution channels, etc.
  • Maintains on-going communications and participates in cross-functional team meetings.  Participates in weekly Production Planning team meetings, Order Management, Logistics, and Customer Service.  Collaborates with other Production Sites where redundant capacity exists.
  • Assists R&D, Sales/Marketing and Procurement in scheduling promotional activities and product life cycle management.
  • Participates or leads cost savings and productivity initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibility
Somewhat independent; work frequently done independently by following standard practices and procedures while occasionally having work checked.
Supervisory Responsibility
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Language Ability:   Ability to respond to common inquiries and complaints.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to exercise discretion while managing confidential information.  Uses intuition and experience to complement data.
Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Word and Excel (Intermediate), MRP software, Internet software and Outlook.
Lean Manufacturing Skills:  Knowledge and some experience with tools such as 5-why, root cause, Kaizen, Kanban.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED minimum
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a supply chain related discipline desired
  • Prior MRP experience
  • Minimum 5 years of production planning in a manufacturing environment; and or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • APICS or Six Sigma certification desirable
