ESCO is a fourth generation, family owned business that opened its doors in 1944. We perform heavy civil construction work across Colorado and neighboring states. We specialize in earthmoving and underground utility installation on both private and public site developments.

As a growing company, ESCO has assembled an impressive team of highly capable team of over 300 employees that has helped us extend our capabilities and coverage across the Front Range.

To support our continuous growth, we are looking to hire a full-time Construction Area Manager with experience in Heavy Civil Construction. ESCO Construction Company focuses on Concrete, Utilities, and Earthworks.

The Area Manager’s primary duty is be an integral leader of the Executive team to help grow the organization by achieving sales and profitability objectives for new projects, new initiatives, maintain relations with clientele, develop new clientele and strategic alliances with business partners. The Area Manager will accomplish this under the collaborative and cooperative direction of the President and Vice President. The Area Manager is largely responsible for developing gross sales and production of large volume construction projects greater than $50MM/year.

The Area Manager is also responsible for contributing to the corporation’s strategic path, project goals, and project performance monitoring. This position requires strong skills in operations and project controls.

Good written and oral communication skills

Extensive sales and negotiating skills

Team player with great interpersonal and leadership skills to generate a following

Strong computer skills, emphasis on Microsoft Office and HCSS program.

Extensive experience in dispute resolution, claims prevention and claims management

Financial and Job Cost Accounting Knowledge

Ability to perform at all project management levels

Clear and concise understanding of all Executive positions and responsibilities

Job Requirements

Business Development Duties:

● Promote ESCO Construction to owners, developers, engineers, contractors and any other appropriate sales leads by increasing the companies brand awareness, prospecting and engaging new clients, maintaining and increasing business with existing clients, coordinating public relations efforts, attending and participating in trade shows, participating in professional and/or industry organizations as required or deemed appropriate;

● Demonstrate and apply a diverse knowledge of all aspects of our construction business necessary to build clientele confidence in conjunction with developing internal respect from project teams.

● Understanding and communicating of financial risks of all current, short term and long tern prospective projects in order to rank the opportunities and make a responsible Go-No-Go decision.

● Participate and recommend updates of marketing collateral and social media as necessary to facilitate the companies brand and market focus.

● Identify and communicate all profitable marketplace or niche opportunities

● Build and manage long term relationships and partnerships with key partners that could provide a competitive edge on future and current pursuits.

● Tracks projects, with schedule contact to project team members, from contract award through completion.

● As time permits attends pre-bid conferences with Chief Estimator and/or estimating staff.

● Lead the development and preparation of presentations and proposals, with Estimating staff participation, to existing or prospective clients.

● Works with Estimating staff throughout the proposal and price preparation process to ensure clients goals are achieved.

● Follow up frequently with current and past clients to obtain positive and negative performance feedback. Prepare and present findings to executive team in order to build upon lessons learned both internally and from the eyes of the customer.

● Manage and schedule Post-Project Review to ensure benefits are realized

Project Management Duties:

● Work with all levels of Project Management staff and clients to ensure that the client’s expectations are regularly being met and monitor client satisfaction.

● Train, mentor and develop Project Management staff on construction means and methods. Maintain constant open communication and open-door policy with all staff members to prevent critical errors due to lack of communication, self-confidence or training.

● Participate in mitigating, managing and resolving project issues to help minimize or eliminate the financial impacts to the company.

● Immediately report significant issues or critical decisions to Vice President and President in order to maintain a proactive and expeditious solution.
