H&R Block, the world’s leader in tax preparation services, is looking for a Sr. Corporate Tax Analyst. This position is located at our corporate headquarters, in the premier downtown Power & Light District of Kansas City, where everything is either steps or a streetcar ride away. In this role you will gain a significant understanding of the H&R Block business units assigned and a general understanding of other Company operations, as well as conduct research and analysis regarding corporate tax issues impacting the Company. You will also provide assistance to ensure that the company complies with all tax laws, periodic payments, information reporting, and other taxing authority requirements, and assist in implementing tax planning strategies to minimize the effective tax rate and/or reduce risks relating to tax matters.
What you’ll do…

  • Research, communicate and apply new corporate tax regulations, determining potential tax savings and developing procedures to comply.
  • Assist in preparation and review of tax returns for US international filings.  Prepare more complicated returns and review less complex ones.
  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly and yearly income tax provisions for the corporate financial statements.
  • Assist with U.S. transfer pricing processes and documentation.
  • Lead technology and process improvements to advance compliance processes.
  • Model and quantify the impact of business changes, new tax legislation and/or tax planning ideas.
  • Support internal and external teams to complete foreign statutory audits.
  • Conduct other duties as assigned.
  • The Company utilizes the following software: Workday, Corptax, OneSource, Vertex, Alteryx.

What you’ll bring to the role…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience preparing and reviewing corporate federal, state and/or foreign income and franchise tax returns
  • Experience may include public accounting experience or experience in a corporate tax department
  • Knowledge and application of corporate tax law and regulations
  • Familiarity with corporate federal, state, and/or foreign income tax rules and requirements
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel including ability to use macros, pivot tables, and query
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to self-start projects and self-review
  • Ambitious and determined to meet internal and external deadlines while being results drive
  • Highly analytical with attention to detail

It would be even better if you also had…

  • Experience with Workday, Corptax, OneSource, Vertex and/or Alteryx
  • Previous experience with tax preparation software
  • CPA or equivalent certification
