Regional Sales Manager

Compensation: $100K - $150K annual earnings. $50K – $70K Base Salary, plus commissions.

Reports to: Director of Sales

Travel: Road Warrior, 50% to 70% travel required.

Family owned Illinois manufacturer of patented snow removal products has an outstanding opportunity for a sales leader to grow, develop and manage our eastern territory. The successful candidate will be home based in our offices in Illinois, but will be covering all eastern states and eastern provinces from Ohio to all territories east and north in the US and Canada. 50% to 70% travel to the east territory required. The position reports to the Sales Director, but should eventually be almost entirely self-directing and self-managing. First year anticipated earnings $100K - $150K.  $50K - $70K base salary, plus unlimited commission potential.

Essential Position Responsibilities:

Increase Territory Sales and Market Share through:

  • Existing Dealer Network: Grow, Develop & Manage existing dealers in the territory. Educate and influence dealers to Increase their preseason inventory buy-in and overall purchases of our products for resale, as well as to increase their active promotion and sales of our products. Assess, evaluate and restructure current dealer network; develop/strengthen value added dealers and eliminate/replace others.

  • New Dealers: Find, pursue, and develop new dealers (value added) for the territory.
  • End users: Educate and actively influence end user use and preference of and for our products.

Primary Contact for All External & Internal Customers

  • Current dealers, potential dealers, and end users (external customers). Handle all communications from and concerning the territory (including face-to-face, phone, and all written communication - digital and traditional). Basically, be the “face” and “go-to person” for all questions and concerns, including sales, order entry and processing, production, marketing, logistics, quality, tech support, collection, how-to, etc.

  • Company Departments (internal customers). Answer all questions and concerns regarding the territory and specific customers from all of the Company's departments
  • Liaison. Act as liaison between all internal and external customers.
  • Company's industry trade shows and dealer open houses/trade shows. Active participation in all company involved trade shows; as well as those that are dealer related, as needed in the Eastern territory.

Reporting and Forecasting

  • Ongoing maintenance and updating of customer/account information and activities via the Company’s contact management system, to ensure accurate and up-to-date customer and account information, opportunities, targets, activities, etc. are readily available for review and use by all company departments.

  • Travel and expense reporting.
  • Sales forecasting of territory as required.
  • Sales meetings with Sales Director and other company departments as required.

Development of Knowledge and Understanding

  • Develop a proficient and growing personal understanding of the Company’s products, systems, dealers, end users, market, and industry in order to meet and exceed the position’s responsibilities and expectations.

  • Add to the Company's understanding of the current and ever-changing landscape of the products, systems, dealers, end users, market, and industry.

 Educate, Promote, Encourage and Influence Understanding and Use of the Company’s Products

Job Requirements

Candidate Requirements:

  • Min. 8 yrs. (proven and documented) Successful outside sales experience. Required.

  • Successful experience in territory development. Required.
  • Accomplished at building and managing professional relationships. Required.
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication skills. Required.
  • Excellent Presentation and Negotiation Skills. Required.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft office applications, as well as CRM experience. Required.
  • Must be Highly driven/self-motivated, persuasive, disciplined and professional.

Highly Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in manufacturing/industrial sales. Plus.

  • Experience managing/developing dealer or distributor relationships. Plus.
  • Experience in snow removal or construction/Ag. equipment markets. Plus.
  • Experience operating snow plowing equipment and/or construction equipment (skid steer, loader, backhoe, etc.) is also a plus.
