Job Description

Sr. Embedded Firmware Engineer
Responsible for the design and development of electronic circuitry and software for communications products and accessories.  Hands-on design and debug of analog and digital audio circuits.  Firmware design for microprocessor-controlled designs is a key requirement.  Position includes concept through production design as well as technical support and modifications of existing products.

  • Design, prototype and evaluate the performance of analog and digital circuit to meet customer and/or internal specifications
  • Design, develop and document firmware for microprocessor-controlled designs
  • Specify and select electronic components
  • Contribute to cost and schedule estimates for customer RFQs
  • Generate schematics, Bill-Of Materials (BOMs) and provide PCB layout guidance
  • Provide technical support toward resolution of field and production issues
  • Define product test requirements
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Mechanical, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality and Sales team
  • Maintain schematics, BOMs, ECNs, drawings, layouts

Job Requirements

  • BSEE or MSEE
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in concept-through-production product development
  • Analog and digital circuit design experience including microprocessor-based designs
  • Experience designing and using digital bus protocols - USB, I2C, I2S, SPI, etc
  • Strong background programming microprocessors (PIC or similar) and using software development tools
  • Software development using good documentation and Structured Software methodology
  • DSP programming experience (Audio Processing) is a plus
  • Audio circuit design experience including OpAmps, Power Amps, Filtering and Transducers
  • Digital audio circuit design experience including codecs
  • Linear and Switchmode Power Supply circuit design experience
  • Experience designing to EMI/EMC compliance, ESD protection, TDMA noise immunity
  • Familarity with FCC and Intrinsically Safe (UL, ATEX, FM) compliance is a plus
  • Experience with Bluetooth and GPS is a plus
  • Familiarity with communications products and accessories (Land Mobile Radios, Cellphones, etc) is a plus
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment
  • Requires self-motivation and ability to complete projects with strict guidelines
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail, results-oriented problem solver, critical thinker
  • Able to work effectively as an individual contributor or on team projects
