University Mechanical & Engineering Contractors, Inc. is currently looking for Mechanical Pre-Construction Manager for our Anaheim, CA. Location. SUMMARY

 The Pre-Construction Manager is responsible for provide Engineering/Design support to the estimating team for design build and design assist project pursuits. After project award provide management of and collaboration with the mechanical design consultant through design completion for HVAC and plumbing scopes. Must have experience with HVAC and Plumbing design for laboratories, hospitals, medical office buildings, classroom facilities, hotels and office buildings. Must have experience in mechanical estimating and understand the cost implications of a variety of design options.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Candidate will work with design professionals on design-build and design-assist projects providing mechanical engineering oversight and design review to direct the design to meet construction budgets. Duties include: 1.) Attend design meetings with the Architect, Owner, General Contractor and Mechanical Engineers, 2.) Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to determine system design approach that is appropriate for the construction budget. 3.) Identifying and influencing architectural/engineering decisions or schedules that impact construction cost. 4.) Establish and manage a design schedule with milestone dates that allow adequate time to review progress before documents become official project submittals. 5.) Identify potential Value Engineering for both first cost savings and life cycle cost savings.

Candidate will: 1.) Interface with our construction project teams and work with our BIM detailing staff to produce coordinated installation drawings. 2.) Work with our estimating team, and will be tasked with managing the design to fit the budget. 3.) Ability to work independently or in groups under a fast pace, deadline driven environment. Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

 To perform this job successfully, the requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and minimum of 3 to 5 years experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS

 Proficiency in: MS Word, MS Excel, AutoCAD MEP, Trane Trace, Internet, Lotus Notes, QuoteExpress windows-based piping and sheet metal estimating systems.

Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of employees, clients, vendors, and suppliers.
