About the Role
The Head Mechanic (HM) is responsible for maintaining the fleet and managing spare parts inventory. The primary goal of the HM is to minimize e-scooters downtime and ensure that all equipment in the field is safe and enjoyable to use. The HM is responsible understanding, executing and logging all types of diagnostic and repair procedures needed to maintain all electric e-scooters in the fleet, as well as documenting and reporting product component failures to the product development team. The HM is the primary owner of the mechanic space and, as such, is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean and organized workshop. Additionally, the head mechanic is responsible for training and delegation of diagnostic and repair procedures to the and Maintenance Technicians Levels 1 and 2 (MT1 and MT2). The HM reports to the Operations Manager (OM).
What You'll Do
Optimize the safety and function of the e-scooters Fleet
Create and maintain a safe, clean and organized workshop
Manage spare parts inventory
Generate spare parts orders and submit to OM with sufficient lead time to mitigate inventory shortage
Execute and delegate maintenance procedures
Train MT2s and MT1s to properly execute maintenance procedures
Inspect and evaluate e-bikes/scooters for safety, function, and cleanliness
Log all maintenance activity in software through computer or tablet
Oversee MT repair data to identify trends and create processes to maximize efficiency
Navigate operations software
Work under the guidance of the Operations Manager
Adhere to all safety protocol
What You'll Need
2+ years' experience as a bike/scooter mechanic OR 5+ years as a mechanic in another field
Experience managing, training, and prioritizing work for other mechanics in a warehouse or workshop environment
Ability to assemble, disassemble, and identify different components and tools
Ability to prioritize and follow instructions from management
Mechanical and technical aptitude, ability to creatively and collaboratively solve problems
Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
Comfortable with fast-paced response times for repairs and active warehouse/shop
Excellent time management and organization skills
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs; stoop, bend, and stand for long periods
Strong communication skills, positive attitude
Ability to be both self-directed and work well in a collaborative team environment
Interpersonal skills: maintain confidentiality, keep an open mind, be patient
Bonus Points If
Experience in a high-growth team or startup businesses
Experience in bike maintenance or running a maintenance operation with multiple team members
Experience in inventory management 
Passion about bike share and urban mobility
