Job Description

The SPA Defense Strategy and Policy Team advises and provides analysis to senior Department of Defense customers on a wide range of national level issues including; the development of defense strategy concepts, deterrence related policy and strategy issues, strategic communications, and development of advanced operating concepts. The team has broad expertise working at the most senior of levels of government, and specializes in integrating complex and crosscutting issues for senior decision makers.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, International Relations, National Security Studies, or related field.
• 6-10 years of experience in related fields is required
• Experience directly interacting with, briefing, or advising senior U.S. Army or DoD decision makers.  
• Service in leadership position demonstrating ability to lead projects and teams.
• Must be capable of clearly communicating complex ideas through excellent oral and written communication skills, including presenting material to senior decision-makers or briefing large groups.
• Must be comfortable working in a fast paced and ambiguous environment.
• Must be capable of analyzing complex issues, developing simplified problem statements, and establishing objective approaches to identify and compare the merits of competing solutions.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Active SECRET security clearance.  

Preferred Qualifications
• Graduate Degree in international affairs, military strategy/history, Joint operations, strategic communications, or European or Indo-Pacific regional studies. 
• Uniformed or civilian U.S. Army experience
• Experience with U.S. Army acquisitions programs, capability analysis, capability requirements development, or doctrine/warfare concept development
• Experience with strategic communications, public affairs, media, and/or peer-reviewed publishing.
• Experience with development, analysis, or implementation of U.S. Army strategy and policy.
• Service on HQDA or subordinate command staff, Combatant Command, or Joint Staff. 
• Interim or final TOP SECRET security clearance.


Job Description:

Provide analytical and strategic communications support to HQDA and perform work on various National Security topics in support to U.S. Army customers.  Responsible for leading and participating in analytical studies, developing or reviewing papers that analyze or recommend positions on issues, drafting and presenting briefing materials, and developing other materials to support policy implementation and strategic communications.  Provide consistent thought leadership to junior analysts in support of customer on a wide range of topics concerning Army strategy and policy.  Must be able to quickly digest and interpret large amounts of information.  Anticipate and respond to customer needs by proactively identifying problem areas or opportunities and presenting solutions and plans.
