Job Summary
The role of a Maintenance Technician is demanding, and requires an all-around understanding of facility upkeep and safety procedures. As a maintenance technician at the Good Samaritan Society, you'll need to have a versatile skill set and a can-do attitude.

What you'll do: From fixing faucets to standing up sheetrock, you'll need to be able to perform many different duties required to upkeep our facility. A typical day is tough to define, but can include work on heating and cooling systems, lawn work and landscaping, painting, basic plumbing, construction and all-around upkeep. You'll oversee preventative building maintenance and ensure our facility is clean, up to code, and safe for residents. Bottom line: You're the go-to person when something needs fixed, maintained or remodeled.

Qualifications

Apartment Maintenance tech

workers usually perform many of the following tasks:

• Repairing sheetrock, Painting apartments,

offices, and common areas

• Replacing or cleaning

filters; Replacing smoke detectors or their batteries

• Maintaining

heating and cooling systems

• Fixing

minor plumbing leaks, faucets, shower valves, and all plumbing maintenance

• Trouble shooting

problems, and Communicating solutions to supervisor

• Cleaning, raking, sweeping,

and garbage removal from exterior areas

Skills

• Proficient

manual dexterity

• General computer, technical, and typing skills

• Proven mechanical aptitude

• Basic carpentry knowledge and skills

• Work well under pressure

• Keen attention to details

• Ability to multitask efficiently

• Verbal and written communication skills

• Capable of understanding and following precise instructions

It is recommended that candidates for these

jobs also have training programs in woodworking, shop, or related subjects

offered by several educational institutions or on the job experience in order

to obtain suitable knowledge and skills for future duties. Some employers

require applicants having experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical

systems, HVAC, lawn care, and domestic hot water systems. Specialists working

on this sector can obtain certifications in electrical wiring, HVAC, boiler

systems, plumbing to enhance their credentials and have better job

opportunities.
