Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Administers, coordinates, and supervises purchasing activities to support construction schedules.
Expected Outcomes:
  • Purchases are made at competitive prices
  • Materials are on job sites when needed
  • Usage billings are timely and accurately completed
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Procures parts and accessories by establishing optimum inventory levels and reordering quantities
  • Develops sources for the procurement of supplies at the most competitive price
  • Ensures verification of incoming orders
  • Arranges and maintains inventory
  • Approves and cost codes invoices for payment
  • Fills job site orders and follow up to ensure timely delivery
  • Keeps equipment information cards up-to-date; updates COINS for all equipment changes
  • Track petty cash purchases
  • Serve as a “help desk” for equipment and supplies questions
  • Creates maintenance record in database for new equipment purchases; updates records as repairs and maintenance are performed
  • Maintains updated price lists
  • Maintains various spreadsheets (purchase order log, owned and leased vehicles, hour meter readings, service spreadsheets, etc.)
  • Tracks equipment usage and makes appropriate charges to cost codes
  • Insure all department procedures, policies, and work rules are complied with
  • Perform additional assignments per the Regional Manager’s direction

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 5 years material/equipment purchasing, and expediting experience related to the construction industry, electrical preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of purchasing techniques and requirements
  • Outstanding math skills
  • Strong computer skills, particularly spreadsheets
  • Purchasing certification or equivalent experience
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide cross section of individuals
  • Commitment to company values
