Rainbow is a world leader in the treatment of children with cancer, heart disease, cystic fibrosis and pulmonary specialties, sickle cell disease, kidney disease, and endocrine and metabolic disorders. As part of the Ireland Cancer Center, the National Institute of Cancer-designated center in northeast Ohio, Rainbows comprehensive pediatric cancer center offers the most promising treatments to children. Rainbow’s Asthma Center helps children experience less frequent and severe symptoms, while significantly reducing trips to ERs.
This Nurse Practitioner is specific to our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit within Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital. Provides safe, efficient age specific nurse practitioner level care to patients/families using nursing/medical interventions/modalities in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and evaluating patient services in the department.
Essential duties include: Implements advanced assessment of patients physical and psychosocial health/illness status and initiates care; Coordinates the implementation of the nursing process and practice to provide effective and efficient care to patients/families; Supervises and serves as a resource to other health professionals; Communicates and collaborates clearly and effectively to enhance patient care and facilitate unit operations; Demonstrates leadership in the practice of nursing to promote quality patient care. Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients and families. Initiates and maintains positive relationships with co-workers. Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment. Displays commitment to the mission of the hospital and its values.
Demonstrated competence in identified area of expertise. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated a professional demeanor when responding to patients. Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet education and patient care needs (eg. Stethoscope, cardio-respiratory monitor).
Nursing Doctorate or Master of Science in Nursing with Advanced Practice Certification
Ohio RN license, Ohio COA
Ideal candidate would have PICU RN experience
A PTO Bridge Program is currently being offered to experienced Nurse Practitioners with at least 5 years of nursing experience.
University Hospitals is currently offering an $8,000 sign on bonus for designated regularly statused Nurse Practitioners who are hired to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. This includes internal transfers within University Hospitals who are NP New Graduate employees.
