Job Description

AGENCY DESCRIPTION:

 

SERCAP is a regional program operating in seven states (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida) to provide training and technical assistance to low-income communities and community based organizations to assist with developing affordable safe drinking water/sanitary waste facilities and other needed services to serve low-income rural residents.

 

JOB TITLE:             Special Projects Manager

 

SALARY:                TBD Based on experience and background

JOB DESCRIPTION: SERCAP’s Special Projects Manager is a team player who assists the agency across various functional areas. This position will primarily manage and oversee SERCAP’s VFC (Volunteers for Change) Alternative Break Program, including recruiting and training efforts. Additionally, this position will manage temporary grant awards/functions, agency departmental needs, and new initiatives for SERCAP. This will include, but will not be limited to, grant writing/management, direct gifts, Results Oriented Management & Accountability (ROMA), marketing, event planning, and other administrative functions. This position on the off season will also work to promote business development and support the development needs of the Agency.

This is a Full-time Position that requires medium to heavy travel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred Education and Experience: A combination of experience and education is necessary to qualify for the position. A typical qualifying combination may include:

 Bachelor’s Degree and/or 4 years equivalent work experience
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to explain and discuss agency policies and procedures, and develop general knowledge of SERCAP projects.

  • Strong Social Media skills

  • Strong Logical and interpersonal Skills

  • Strong Computer Skills, including: MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, and Internet Research

  • High attention to detail

  • Displays a sense of urgency and follows through

  • Problem Solving abilities

  • Flexibility and a related ability to work autonomously

  • A Team Player willing to work on tight deadlines and pitch in when needed across agency

  • Ability to learn quickly and execute tasks in a timely manner

  • Ability to create collaborative relationships

  • Ability to effectively juggle completing needs

  • High degree of self motivation and ability to work independently

  • Self-starter, resilient, and creative in nature

  • Internally motivated

  • Ability to inspire and engage passion in SERCAP programs

Job Requirements

DUTIES: The Special Projects Manager will manage the development of special projects within the Agency, and have secondary emphasis on community engagement, as directed by the Department Head. The Special Projects Manager will also build a strong partnership will Colleges/Universities, Volunteers, Funding Agencies, and the Business Community, engaging them in all aspects of supporting and growing the program region.  This position on the off season will also work to promote business development and support the development needs of the Agency.   Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: 
  • Manage special program activities, as outlined in Work Plans

  • Complete projects in a timely manner

  • Act as Public Relations and Communications person for programs
    under Department and Agency Umbrella

  • Give presentations on agency activities, and meet with local, state, and federal agencies

  • Update, maintain, and set-up SERCAP display at business functions and seminars/workshops

  • Update and maintain VFC website, blog and FB accounts

  • Work on developmental resources for the Agency

  • Perform other duties as needed and directed by the Department Supervisor and/or the President & CEO
