General Description

Under the general supervision of the IT Infrastructure Manager, this position has primary responsibility for administering and maintaining the organization’s IT systems, services, and applications, as well as for providing second-level support to company personnel for various information technology requests and trouble issues.  The Systems Administrator will work on assigned Tier-2 workflows and tasks, ensure the smooth functioning of system operations, and collaborate on IT projects such as system upgrades and deployments, application rollouts, or endpoint security and management. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide IT Tier-2 support within the organization

  • Assist the Service Desk Administrator with ticket management as needed

  • Monitor network and operations status

  • Administer account updates and security changes in application software

  • Administer account and group policy changes in Active Directory

  • Administer Cisco phone system adds, deletes, changes

  • Deploy and support application packages to client computers

  • Create, deploy, and maintain computer workstation images

  • Support meeting, seminar, and boardroom A/V and computer equipment needs

  • Document new processes and maintain existing documentation for various installation, configuration, and security processes and procedures

  • Manage system and data backup and restore operations

  • Manage security and software patching for server and client computers

  • Maintain data center environmental equipment and liaison with equipment vendors

  • Cross-train with Tier-1 and Tier-3 personnel for contingency and out of office coverage

  • Participate and collaborate in staff meetings and report on work activities

  • Research and recommend purchases for new projects or to replace existing solutions

  • Review backup, application, and system job and security logs and status reports

  • Guide, mentor, and train Tier-1 personnel and IT interns

Position Qualifications

  • 4-year BA/BS degree required

  • Microsoft, Cisco, and/or CompTIA certifications highly desirable

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • 2+ years Linux administration

  • Cisco Unified Communications administration and support

  • Office365 administration and support

  • AWS administration and support


Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting and moving up to forty pounds occasionally.

  • Sitting for long periods of time, some standing and repetitive physical activity


This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e., computers, phones and photocopiers).
