The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer Lead (Virtual) to join the Boeing Enterprise Software Products and Capabilities: Utilities Software Development located in Long Beach, CA.
This position will support the architecture, development, deployment and certification of cloud based software applications used to “communize” the user experience, development and analysis of large aircraft platform interface data. This Software Engineering position will begin by leading a team of 4 additional software engineers in the architecture & requirements definition phase thru initial proof of concept. This will be followed by leading a global distributed team of 8-12 software engineers responsible for activities throughout the full software development lifecycle.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Position Responsibilities:
Team, technical and architectural lead for a software development team responsible for the entire lifecycle of java, cloud based software applications
Collection of current requirements, implementations and tooling across multiple user groups and development teams
Creation of CONOPS, architecture and software requirements
Migration of current tooling into containerized external hosted cloud deployment
Software application development, continuous integration and continuous deployment to external hosted cloud platform
Requirement Based Testing generation and execution for Tool Operational Requirements
Conduct formal qualification testing of the tool software
Generation of DO-330 certification artifacts including Plans and SW development Lifecycle execution evidence
Implementation of problem and change requests against the current baselined software
Perform review and acceptance of all product changes made by team
Interact with multiple stakeholders across organizations
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Required Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline
Proficiency in C++, Java
Strong software development skills
Familiarity with cloud technologies
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Graduate degree in a relevant engineering discipline
Experience with airplane communication protocols
Passionate about aviation, advanced air mobility, and the future of transportation
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirements
Ability to lead teams effectively
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience).
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Travel: - some travel, up 10%
Relocation:
Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
