This position may be located in Urbandale, IA, Moline, IL, Cary, NC or Fargo, ND per the hiring manager's discretion. This may be dependent on the successful candidate's background, experience, and proficiency.

Your Responsibilities

As aSeniorEmbeddedSoftware Systems Engineerwithin ISG Tech Stack Urbandale IA, Moline IL, Cary NC, Fargo ND

  • Design and Implement core infrastructure components and solutions to support product line automation and autonomy projects.
  • Assist in integration and software development activities around infrastructure systems (embedded operating systems, reprogramming, networks, and diagnostics) into John Deere products.
  • Provide technical leadership, lead proof of concepts/technology development and support first adopters on application of new core technologies.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the source of issues and the impact on hardware and software.

What Skills You Need

  • 5+ years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and some of that experience with embedded systems.
  • 3 years of experience with embedded communication protocols on hardware topologies such as CAN, ethernet, LIN, etc.
  • 3 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability and willingness to work in a diverse team environment, helping others on the team succeed

  • Ability to work with cross functional stakeholders (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, product design, marketing, etc) to understand customer requirements and how those can be translated into software requirements and implementations
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt, and willingness to keep growing skills to contribute to an evolving team
  • Focus and passion for developing innovative technical solutions to solve customer problems
  • Background with John Deere products and product development engineering experience in software and electrical systems.
  • Experience with high power electrical systems.

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other engineering related field
