Quality Assurance (QA) Test Engineer

 

Job Summary:

Precise is seeking an experienced QA Test Engineer to be part of a team.  As an QA Test Engineer on our team, you'll work with developers to test our applications across an array of hardware and software.  You will work on building a test plan with test cases based on user stories. Using manual and automated test processes, you will execute the test cases to see how the software performs. You will confirm expected application behaviors in response to our software and then document the results and communicate defects to the development team so they can improve the applications.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • As a QA Test Engineer, you will be an integral team member who assists the team in ensuring high quality code is delivered to our client
  • Responsibilities will include testing and verification of code, reporting and recording defects, coordination with architects, business analysts, and developers on testing and testing results, documenting test scripts, participating in design reviews, user acceptance testing, and deployment activities
  • Work in an Agile environment and participate in scrum ceremonies and product planning activities
  • Plan, organize, and implement day to day activities of testing
  • Coordinate with developers, architects, and functional analysts within an agile/scrum environment
  • Review and understand user stories and associated acceptance criteria
  • Execute all phases and types of testing to include user story testing, end-to-end testing, back-end database testing, regression testing of a release, and possibly performance and 508 compliance testing
  • Understand complex business and functional requirements and provide direction in designing the technical test cases that thoroughly test the tech stack from architectural standpoint and meet the application requirements
  • Participate in application design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, dependencies, or potential issues
  • Work with the development teams in implementing & enforcing quality gates at each stage of the pipeline
  • Proactively identify and communicate risks and opportunities for improvement in testing process or other processes that cross all products and test frameworks
  • Perform manual testing of created functionality and creation of automated test scripts when applicable

 

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Good understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Defect Life Cycle
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and tools
  • At least 5 years of experience with formal system testing, including performing analysis of documented user requirements or designing of test plans in support of user requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience with creating detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases
  • At least 3 years of experience with SQL server or PL/SQL or any database management skills
  • At least 3 years of experience working with Jira
  • Familiar with test automation in both on-prem and cloud environments
  • Familiar with Jenkins and experience supporting test automation with Jenkins
  • Possession of excellent interpersonal and team-oriented skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for design, attention to detail, and punctuality
  • Comfortable in a demanding environment and managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to obtain a public trust security clearance (USC or GC)
