The Role

Proofpoint is looking for a talented Senior Product Manager to drive the Data Loss Prevention strategy and execution for Proofpoint’s Information Security Products.

The Senior Product Manager is an experienced business professional who possesses a unique balance of technical depth, functional domain knowledge and strong interpersonal skills. This role will be responsible for determining features and functionality to support the company’s strategic DLP product lines as well as help drive the strategy and execution for future services. The Senior Product Manager will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to scope, define roadmaps and requirements, and deliver on-time and high-quality software products that align with business goals.

This position requires an individual who is highly motivated and a self-starter. It is ideal for a hands-on individual with sharp instincts about what makes a good security product, enjoys making data driven decisions and leads cross functional projects from concept through implementation. Successful candidates will combine knowledge of the security market, proven track record in developing winning products and ability to lead product development teams to bring new capabilities to market. Experience with enterprise customers is highly desired.

This position reports to the Director of Product Management for Enterprise Data Loss Prevention, and is located at the Proofpoint offices in Draper, UT. Remote locations will also be considered.

Your day-to-day

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to prioritize development activities, make trade-offs, and rally agile teams to ship high quality deliverables under aggressive schedules

  • Define clear product requirements and identify resources to realize the concept, managing the product life cycle process from inception to end of life

  • Analyze market and product trends and define product roadmap to support the strategy

  • Analyzing market, competition trends, customer feedback and working closely with engineering to develop and maintain product roadmaps

  • Be the voice of the customer with the development, quality assurance and operational teams for user experience and feature definition

  • Lead cross-functional teams to define the offering, develop the user experience, establish go-to-market plans, and to manage the support and licensing infrastructure

  • Serve as a product expert in customer engagements and help articulate and clarify areas of competitive differentiation

  • Drive content development and creation of sales and systems engineer enablement content and assist enablement teams in training internal stakeholders

  • Work with cross-functional teams on pricing/packaging analysis, positioning, product introductions and launches

What you bring to the team

  • Bachelor's degree in technical field, with high academic achievement; MBA or equivalent business experience is preferred

  • Security background preferably with familiarity in data loss prevention, data classification, broader data security or related technologies.

  • 5+ years managing high technology products, from development through launch

  • Able to maintain the delicate balance between quality, speed, user experience and customer expectations

  • Successful background in developing go-to-market strategies with senior level counterparts

  • Excellent communications skills, with experience communicating across groups with varying degrees of technical background

Proofpoint carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary.

The hiring range for this position is typically:

125,250.00 - 167,000.00 USD

Actual offer will be based on the individual candidate. Bonus, commission, and/or equity may be eligible for this position.
