Gift of Life Howie’s House (formerly Gift of Life Family House) serves as a home away from home for transplant patients and their families by providing temporary, affordable lodging, meals, and supportive services to those who travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for transplant-related care. Gift of Life Family House is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization.

What We Want for our GOL Howie’s House Hospitality Operations Manager:
  • A dynamic, degreed individual with a minimum of five years of hotel, hospitality, customer relations or service management related fields is required.
  • Possess and have demonstrated the ability to develop and carry out plans/goals, establish priorities and effectively multi-task.
  • Participate in working on-call weekends, holidays, and inclement weather days as part of House on-call coverage.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively coupled with the ability to work with volunteers, co-workers, and contributors.
  • Strong experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.

Some of what you’ll be doing as Gift of Life Howie’s House Hospitality Operations Manager:
  • Oversight of Guest Relations including:
    • Overseeing guest admissions based upon policy and guidelines; assist in assuring accuracy of registration procedure and oversight gathering information for room statistics.
    • Oversight of room scheduling, guest requests, check-in and check-out, and collaborate with Caregiver Lifeline Director Social Worker to prioritize families for eligibility to stay in Family House.
    • Address families’ needs that arise during shift (i.e., arrange transportation, provide room rate reductions, etc.) and support guest adherence to House standards
    • Provide emotional support to families in collaboration with Caregiver Lifeline team
  • Oversight of Hospitality operations budget (operations & capital) & data
    • Financial data analysis to support budget development, and trends
    • Track Room revenue and expenses
    • Maintain information on room/occupancy statistics
    • Maintain transplant center utilization statistics
    • Maintain supplemental guest stay records
  • Oversight of Hospitality Operations Team (24/7)
    • Oversight of the 24/7 schedule (including weekend and holidays)
    • Oversight of full time hospitality staff, Resident Manager, interns and Relief Managers
  • House Volunteer Relations
    • Oversee the hospitality Volunteers to assure that in-house volunteers are effectively and are actively engaged in providing guest services and that volunteers are provided with a positive and supportive environment in which to volunteer.
    • Assign daily volunteer tasks related to House operations and coordinate volunteer substitutions.
  • Oversight of contracted services (housekeeping, security, landscaping etc)
  • Oversight of Property and Fleet Management:
    • Ensure on-going on-site property inspections to support overall facility functions at a high level
    • Respond to property problems, schedule, and interact with appropriate GLDP staff and/or outside contractors (i.e., plumbers, electricians, cleaning, and maintenance crews etc.).
    • Maintain inventory of House supplies and incorporate input from House Manager-Evening and Relief Managers.
    • Ensure training and appropriate education to staff, residents, and volunteers in use of and response to House safety systems and alarm.
    • Ensure routine inspections to all Gift of Life Howie’s House vehicles and schedule regular maintenance.
  • Oversight of Volunteer Home Cook Heroes Program
    • Community engagement program whereby groups provide daily dinner (brunch and dinner on weekends) service
    • Support Home Cook Hero program by sharing program highlights to the Philadelphia transplant community.
  • Support Community & Hospital Engagement
    • Collaborate in Hospital engagement activities and data analysis
    • Support planning and execution of House special events
    • Oversee coordination of House Tours and .outside groups interested in performing service projects for House.
    • Support House development initiatives (e.g. identify facility/operational needs; wish list needs)
  • Oversight of Guest Transportation Program
    • Oversight of shuttle service and supplemental transportation services
    • Assist with the recruitment and training of volunteer drivers and monitor drivers to ensure adherence to schedules and proper driving practices.
    • Other Duties as assigned.
