Medical specialties:
Ophthalmology and/or surgery center experience would be nice, but not required.
Job duties:

Assist with the physical preparation of the OR, creating the sterile field, and maintaining sterile technique during operative procedure.
Cleaning of instruments and autoclave usage
Programming, calibrating, and troubleshooting machines used in OR and proper preparation.
Become knowledgeable of medications used during procedures and the effect they have on the patient. Als, medications patients take at home that affect the eye.
Identify and select appropriate packs, trays, and accessory/specialty equipment for each surgery/ Ophthalmologist.
Ensure proper dilation of eye when appropriate.
Assist with the count of, sponges, needles, and other surgical items, pass correct instruments, and sutures as needed by surgeon.
Chart preparation and verification of procedure, correct eye, and lens for next surgical day
Delegated tasks by ASC Director regarding ordering of supplies.
Prepare specimens for submission of pathological analysis
Work as a team with all members of the ambulatory surgery center and maintain a positive attitude.
