Position Summary

Position Summary
The position is within Carlyle's Corporate Accounting - Global Employment Tax department. This position supports employment tax matters relating to mobility, shareholders and various compensation programs for Carlyle's employees and partners. In addition to being a resource to Carlyle's global stakeholders, the Candidate will coordinate with the Chief Tax Officer, Tax Center of Excellence, or other firm tax experts. Candidate will be asked to provide deep technical expertise across multiple departments within Carlyle: including Corporate Accounting, Internal Co-investment, Long Term Incentives, and Human Capital.

The position helps oversee the system and policy compliance/employee tracking in the Carlyle mobility tool and works closely with the Principal of Global Employment Tax to ensure that the firm is compliant in its employment tax requirements.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities Assist Principal of Global Employment Tax with the development and execution of strategy for the Individual Tax ("Human Capital") area and provide technical expertise and global point of contact for all issues within the field. Develop partnership with key departments and critical stakeholders including those listed below (25% of time)
Assist on the development and implementation of global remote workers, transfers and the expatriate tax policies. Coordinate with the Human Capital and Corporate Accounting business partners to set policy, implement and review processes, and issues as they relate to employees globally (25% of time)
Assist in providing market intelligence and deep global tax expertise as it relates to the enterprise-wide stock program. Provide innovative planning, evaluating new structures, new country regulations and strategy in the area while evaluating global risk. Coordination with Human Capital, Long Term Incentive and International Controllers on all Global equity program matters (15% of time)
Execution of the Global Mobility program and compliance thereof. Manage and evaluate tax structuring for mobile or remote employees while evaluating corporate tax risks. Execute global policies while serving as the liaison between the tax department and global payroll administrators (15% of time)
Develop communications to Global Individual employees and incentive program participants on tax technical matters including international filing requirements for domestic owners as well as inbound investments by foreign nationals, compliance requirements and changing regulations (10% of time)
Perform ad hoc analysis as requested of gross to net employer and employee taxes associated with Employment contracts, employee transfers/allocations, or terminations (10% of time)

Qualifications

Requirements
Education & Certificates Bachelor's degree, required
Concentration in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Human Capital or other business-related degree, preferred
CPA or CFP preferred
Professional Experience 8-10 yrs in the global employment tax area experience required
Tax technical expertise in a wide variety of areas, including global individual income matters, expatriate matters, and international tax
Working knowledge of global equity arrangements and international compensation plans
Strong project management skills and ability to multi-task and work across multiple groups
Strong written communication skills
Well-developed oral communication skills with experience in articulating complex tax matters to senior executives
Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply judgement to make risk assessments related to technical employment tax positions
Proven experience with research
Experience with International Individual programs
Competencies & Attributes Highly professional with strong communication skills
