ProMedica Senior Care, formerly HCR ManorCare, provides a range of services, including skilled nursing care, assisted living, post-acute medical and rehabilitation care, hospice care, home health care and rehabilitation therapy.



Responsible to plan, organize, and provide medically prescribed music therapy that creates a safe environment, addresses the holistic needs of patients, and offers a means of expression for patients and caregivers that positively impacts the patients’ health status, feeling of wellness, and/or quality of life.

Educational Requirements

Music Therapist ' Registered and Board Certified in appropriate state

Position Requirements

Education



Bachelors Degree in Music Therapy from an accredited institution (Masters Degree or Neurological Music Therapy training preferred), Certified as a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC)



 



Qualifications



Knowledge of principles, concepts and methodology of music therapy appropriate for chronically-terminally ill patients.



Ability to provide live music therapy interventions on a range of musical instruments, including voice, guitar and keyboard.



Ability to develop rapport, create a safe environment, and a mode of expression through music for patients and families.



Demonstrated ability to utilize music therapy clinical techniques, problem solving skills and decision making skills.



Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.



Demonstrated ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team.



 



Experience



A minimum of one year of clinical experience; two years experience preferred.   Experience in home health or hospice preferred. 



 



Physical Demands



Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds; Walking, standing, talking, hearing, pushing, fingering, reaching, seeing, stooping, smelling, depth perception, color vision.



 



Travel



Necessary on a daily basis; 100%.



 



Working Conditions



Patient home/living facilities/ inpatient units.



Exposure to disagreeable conditions including odors, infection, illness, and physical contact from disruptive patients.



Must be flexible to accommodate completion of tasks, patient needs and referrals.
