Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION/POSITION GOAL:

I. JOB RELATED FUNCTIONS:
  • Demonstrates competency in the performance of job related skills appropriate to his/her customer populations and departmental services.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle inbound phone calls from referring physicians, outside radiologic facilities and patients and oblige requests with professionalism and while abiding by HIPAA guidelines.
  • Maintains quality results by following Hospital and Radiology standards.
  • Maintains patient confidence by keeping patient records information confidential.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office. Familiar with Medical terminology and has the ability to recognize different types of patient reports,
  • Physician Requests. Gathers patient information by collecting demographic information from a variety of systems, interacting with physicians' offices and outside radiologic facilities.
  • Reviews medical records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Responsible for scanning in requests, attaching them to patient charts and leaving notes where applicable. Responsible for requesting medical records, DICOM images from outside radiologic facilities using ROI forms.
  • Communicates with internal and external health care providers on the availability or unavailability of patient records.
  • Knowledge of record keeping procedures and policies preferred.
  • Ability to rely on standardized job instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Responsible for specific and preferential delivery of Patient Images per referring physician's profiles in RIS;
  • Burning of DICOM Images on CD/DVD via the use of SimonMed's PACS system.
  • Communicates with the Couriers as a means to oblige the referring physician requests for Films/CD's.
  • Attention to Detail.
  • Duties as assigned.

II. CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPECTATIONS: Demonstrates competencies in customer service and an understanding SimonMed Imaging code of conduct and culture.

III. EQUIPMENT: Utilizes and operates equipment and mechanical devices which provide for a functional, effective, and safe environment.

IV. JOB RELATED AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH: Adheres to policies, procedures, guidelines relative to departmental operations. Participation in specific activities for the promotion of self-growth or the enhancement of a positive image.

V. QUALITY: Applies the standards of practice/performance in the work setting to achieve positive outcomes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0-2 years of related experience. Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position may require duties including lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds, sitting for prolonged periods of time, with frequent standing and walking. Good visual and auditory acuity as well as good manual dexterity and the ability to be readily understood are essential. Must be able to work in an environment with multiple deadlines and priorities. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

DRESS ATTIRE: Business/Administrative wear.
