Maintenance Technician

Summary
Assist in coordinating and supervising maintenance activities resulting in maximum productivity and efficiency with minimum downtime. Perform routine maintenance on production equipment. Maintain, construct and repair equipment, buildings and grounds. Assist production as a Set-Up Mechanic and/or electrician as required; also assist production with machine operation and/or grinding as needed.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain all production equipment in good repair, including checking/lubricating equipment as scheduled/needed
• Assure safety circuits are operational and adequate to provide a safe working environment.
• Overhaul and rebuild equipment
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain equipment including electrical and/or electrical wiring.
• Rebuild machine repair parts and return them to usable condition
• Knowledge in Power Panel Fabrication and hydraulics
• Be able to read schematics for hydraulic components
• Diagnose and repair equipment in an efficient manner
• Inspect electrical systems and continuity of circuits to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
• Advise management if the continued operation could be hazardous
• Assist production as a set-up mechanic or machine operator/grinder as needed
• Prepare sketches or follow blueprints/schematics to determine the location of wiring and equipment to ensure conformance to building/safety codes
• Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment
• Perform duties such as maintaining reports/files, preparing reports, ordering supplies, and parts as needed
• Understand P.L.C. function/logic
• Assure chillers and processed water receiving are in good working condition daily (Analyze situations of a more complex nature)
• Maintain maximum efficiency of material and equipment usage.
• Assist and train personnel as required in specific activities.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment during all activities.
• Maintain neat and accurate log book and follow through on assigned jobs. Advise the Supervisor of necessary changes.
• Work within existing parameters of designed equipment
• Note and correct, if possible, unsafe conditions and practices or report the same to the manager
• Efficiently use “helpers” and co-workers on projects. Train, recommend, and advise others on the proper method of repair
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Technical school degree and/or 2-3 years equivalent experience required
• Minimum 5-year experience as a Maintenance Technician
• Excellent mechanical/electrical aptitude and ability
• High math aptitude
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills. Must be able to read, write and speak English
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to use hand tools and comprehend simple repairs
• Must have verifiable troubleshooting experience on determining the causes of malfunctioning machines and how to repair them
• Time management skills
• Ability to understand the implications of new information for both present and future problem-solving and decision-making options
