Respiratory Therapist/RPSGT- PartTime, Nights

Cayuga Medical Center Ithaca, NY (Onsite) Part-Time

A sleep technologist works under the general supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center and home sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education. A sleep technologist is credentialed in sleep technology and is able to provide oversight of other sleep center staff. Technicians and trainees work under the direct supervision of the credentialed sleep technologist or the medical director.

Effectively provides Person Centered care and services

Job Responsibilities include:

  • - 1. Patient care
  • - 2. Sleep study preparation and set-up
  • - 3. Sleep study procedures
  • - 4. Technologist training
  • - 5. Resolves patient problems and performs quality checks
  • - 6. Service management an essential skills
  • - 7. Meet quality assurance standards which includes monthly ISR
  • - Is flexible in assuming other appropriate responsibilities not noted above.

Requirements:

Education - Graduate of associate degree in sleep technology and/or respiratory therapy emphasis in sleep technology.

AND

Current certification by a nationally recognized certification board and holds either the Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential.

Experience - 1-2 years preferred as a registered technologist, but not required

Licensure - Current license in the State of New York

Current BLS

Physical Requirements - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Schedule: 2, 12 Hour Shifts/Week
